About

The original owners of SweetPea's owned both the Bartlett location and SweetPea's Table Restaurant, located in Olive Branch, MS. They were friends with Gary and Johnette LaCroix, and had asked them to manage the Bartlett location for them. After about a year, the owners asked if they wanted to purchase the restaurant. Not having the funds to make such a purchase, the LaCroixs were prepared to turn the offer down, but they were given an offer they couldn't refuse, and thus the deal was made.

With a small rebrand and some slight changes to the menu, SweetPea's Southern Cookin' was born. With the goal of serving real, genuine southern comfort food to their customers in their hearts, the new restaurant owners quickly discovered that they had found a niche that many in the area loved. The community in Bartlett and the surrounding areas rallied behind SweetPea's and helped them to build to what they are today, and they could not be more grateful for all they've been given.

The two things they love most about owning SweetPea's are the customers and their staff, many of whom have become close friends and even like family over the years. Gary, as a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ, has even had the opportunity to perform weddings and other events for customers and staff members alike. Even throughout the pandemic, the community still continued to support SweetPea's with an outpouring of love and dedication, which Gary cites as one of the main reasons they've continued to keep the restaurant open.

"We thank all of our customers and employees for making SweetPea’s Southern Cookin’ a place where people can feel like they’re coming back home. And regardless of what some say, ‘Southern Cookin’ makes you good lookin’. It just may take a while!"
